A cute antiboredom campaign.

One of the changes at work since I’ve been back is a desire for weekly status meetings — especially since the QA team is beginning to grow (yay!). Today, my boss is asking me to start completing a Total Project Summary report. Originally titled Key Project Spotlight, we just couldn’t resist changing the name :). I should design a coversheet for it next week1.
Tegan Time
Tegan got to the eye doctor today. Sounds like we just need to keep doing what we’ve been doing. I tried to be kind to Ari and found a way for him to deal with Tegan or Simeon rather than both at once. I remember how difficult it was taking Tegan to the nearby vet and dealing with Simeon in a carseat all by myself.
Simeon Stuff
I know they say you should sleep babies on their backs, but it has become quite evident that Simeon’s preferred way to sleep is on his side. I used to have a problem with him waking up as soon as I laid him in his crib. The last few nights, I’ve just layed him on his side and amazingly he’s not calling for us 10 minutes later anymore. Thank you Ari for figuring this out! I do wonder if it’s from any chest discomfort (as my mom wondered as well), but whatever the reason is, as long as it works and he’s happy, so am I.
1For those of you who are unfamiliar with the movie Office Space, IMDB is nice enough to have a list of memorable quotes:
Dom Portwood: Hello, Peter. What’s happening? We need to talk about your TPS reports.
Peter Gibbons: Yeah. The coversheet. I know, I know. Uh, Bill talked to me about it.
Dom Portwood: Yeah. Uh, did you get that memo?
Peter Gibbons: Yeah. I got the memo. And I understand the policy. The problem is, I just forgot this one time. And I’ve already taken care of it so it’s not even a problem anymore.
Dom Portwood: Yeah. It’s just that we’re putting new coversheets on all the TPS reports *before* they go out now. So if you could just remember to do that from now on, that’d be great. All right!

So a few weeks ago I saw posted on Daily Dose of Denise a list of 101 things to do in 1001 days. I thought it was a nifty idea and decided to do the same. I was hoping to get it on it’s own web page so it would be easy to modify as I complete things, and get a nice countdown of days display before I posted it. However, it’s time to stop procrastinating – especially since it means I won’t count anything I’ve done before today. There is easily more to do…and some of these are hopefully just the start of an ongoing habit. Good place to start though.
Tegan Time
Apparently I didn’t clean Simeon well enough last night. As I was getting him clothed, Tegan stopped by, took a whiff of his hair and completed the job for me. Too cute :).
Simeon Stuff
He laughs!! Heard it first on Saturday or Sunday and he laughed again today. It’s so cute. He’s also so close to rolling over, as I mentioned before. If he only knew what to do with the arm he rolls towards.

Just last week I discovered I needed one ingredient for my mom to make her delicious chicken soup for dinner. So, in order for me to run to the store (and grab a whopping 5 items), I drove 15 minutes on the highway, ran around the store for 15 minutes grabbing what I needed, then rushed back home. However, as of today, I can literally run to the store and back home in the same amount of time…if not less. Yes…IGA Village Foods opens today on Snoqualmie Ridge! A children’s learning center is supposed to open end of the year, I believe; and the next exciting building coming to the Ridge is a King County Library set to open in 2007. Feel free to check out other community news.
Tegan Time
Still staying under foot and guarding Simeon’s door. We need to get her back to the vet soon and see how she’s doing. Eventually she needs to have some dental work done :s.
Simeon Stuff
Ari took Simeon in for his 4 month wellness check – and a post surgery checkup. I now understand why I’ve been having trouble keeping up with his demands. Over the last 9 days he has gained 14 ounces to reach a weight of 12 lbs 8 oz! Here we were aiming for 1 – 1.5 ounces a day.

We’ve noticed Simeon can be quite the flirt. At the hospital, he was flirting with every woman he came into contact with. So, I have to admit I was amused with the following:
| Simeon will have to write: |
|
I will not put mirrors on my shoes so I can look up girls skirts |
|
‘What will you have to write on the chalk board?’ at QuizGalaxy.com |
As you can see, I’ve changed the look of my blog. I still plan on making a few more tweaks, but we’re getting there. Just wanted a change of scenery.

I’m getting behind…I know. So let’s see…
The parent exchange was this past weekend. Ari’s mom went back to Virginia and my momm came in for the week. Next week, Ari starts his paternity leave – yay!
Superbowl Sunday came and went. Turned out we weren’t hosting anybody, so I sent Ari off to hang out with friends. Just as half-time was finishing, Mike Khalili came over. I had seen him online and offered him a nice HD picture of the game. He was kind enough to bring dinner for us.
Started back to work on Tuesday (well, started going back to the office…I was working from home). TJ – our network admin – has been kind to me and is letting me hold onto the laptop until it is needed. It has been wonderful having it – I can actually feed Simeon and get work done at the same time, which I couldn’t do if I was having to sit at the desk in the office. Definitely have a lot to do at work and I discovered this week that my officemate (my QA cohort) has decided to switch to development full time. They started stealing her while I was on maternity leave and she didn’t want to switch until I was back at work. I’m happy for her…she’s been wanting this and the opportunity showed itself. Granted that makes my job harder – at least for the short term.
Now it’s time to continue with work. A lot of sites to test and starting in a couple weeks it’s just me.
Tegan Time
Tegan definitely got used to having my mother-in-law around. When she first arrived, Tegan was having a bad reaction to some medication and wasn’t eating. So, partly for that and partly just because (I’m sure) Tegan was getting quite a few treats each day. She’s still going to the corner where she was getting treats and waiting for more. Eventually she will get back to the old routine of treats after medicine.
Simeon Stuff
Monday was Simeon’s post hospital checkup. He’s recovering quite nicely – most of the redness from the incision is gone and it’s looking more like a scar. He’s definitely got more energy – especially at bathtime when he’s so excited to be in the tub and he’s just splashing away. I think he’s starting to get back to a schedule. We had been getting him down for the night by 9pm, but I decided to go back to the schedule he initially had and it’s been much easier putting him to sleep around 10 – 10:30. So the bedtime routine is at 9pm until we can feel safe moving it up again. Though I may keep it here. 9pm means I get a few hours with him after I get home and 11 – 11:30 is a good bedtime for me. The last two nights he’s woken at 1am and 4am…not a bad start to a new schedule.
I wish I had this problem…
