Happy Father's Day!

Having gotten behind on posting, I did not note that I started playing softball again!

Last weekend, I discovered just how out of shape I am.  After not playing softball for about 1.5 years and not having done much exercising recently, I played a double header.  And, of course, I felt it the next two days.  Each step hurt.  But, I had fun and I’m glad I’m able to play again.  You could tell the team was desperate to find a backup pitcher…I opened the second game.  I did really great the first inning.  I don’t think they scored, and I was pitching hittable balls.  Unfortunately, the second inning didn’t go so well…I think I walked everybody in the line up before we found a relief pitcher.  But…I started off well, and if I practice, I could do a decent job in a pinch.  Final scores:  13-11 win; 16-17 loss.

This weekend Ari went on a Bainbridge bike ride with R and B.  Turned out to be an all day thing and I, unfortunately, didn’t get much accomplished with my time alone.  M and D invited us on a hike to Little Si, but it was a bit too late for us.  So, instead, they stopped by and hung out for a bit after they finished.  It was a really nice evening of conversation and a relatively quick game of Lunch Money.

Today was Ari’s first father’s day!  Today’s picture is of Simeon’s father’s day gift – hand painted and hand-printed.  A last minute invite to some friends in the morning, and we had 6 or 7 people over for an evening bbq.  I was happily surprised to see one friend that I haven’t seen for a long time.  He has sinced left the job where I last remember him and started working on a documentary about whales.  He showed us a bit of his footage and all I can say is…Wow!  Swimming with humpback whales no more than 10 feet away…incredible.

Tegan Time
She’s cute.  She purrs.  She’s soft and fluffy.  Not much else to say right now.

Simeon Stuff
Continously increasing his meal options.  So far we have tried:  rice cereal, avocado, banana, yams, carrots, applesauce, pears, peaches and peas.  Soon to come:  mashed potato, greenbeans, pineapple (tho I want to double check with the doctor first on this one), squash.  We did try cottage cheese a bit…but he didn’t seem to like it after a couple days of trying so we’ve given up for now and will try again at some point.

He’s now been sleeping the night for a couple weeks.  Yay!!  He usually goes down around 9pm and wakes around 5:30am or 6am.  I can deal with that schedule.  🙂
