Piya's Perspective

Oops…2 months have past since my last post.  I must admit, a lot has happened in 2 months.

July was the beginning of visitors for us.  First week of July, we hosted my brother-in-law and his girlfriend.  Except for July 4, I was stuck at work for the week, but Ari was able to take a couple days off.  Seems like Ian and Rebecca had a good time and would have preferred to spend a few extra days.  Next was Ari’s Mom and her friend, Miss Linda.  They visited for a couple weekends with an Oregon road trip in between stays.  It’s always nice to have them stop by – especially when they’re so willing to do our laundry and some cleaning for us :).  Next visitors are my cousin Paula and a friend of hers.  They’ll stay at our house for a night before leaving on an Alaskan Cruise. The next evening my mom comes in for a week and will get to see my cousin Paula when she stays for a day after the cruise.  Nice busy time for visitors.

There were also a few events.  End of June, right before Ian and Rebecca visited, was a going away party for Julie.  It was fun.  I was her “handler” for the day.  The two of us had to solve puzzles to make it through the scavenger hunt in order to get to the final party place.  Julie had to give up some tickets to go to a wedding and exchanged them for tickets so Ari and I could see Bugs Bunny at the symphony house (watch clips of Bugs Bunny with the Seattle Symphony playing the music).  Rebecca ended up joining me so that Ari could spend some time with his brother.  The day after Ian and Rebecca left, Ari biked STP (seattle to portland) – 206 miles.  The most he’d ridden before that was 100 miles, but he managed to finish in 13 hours averaging 16 mph.  Julie rode down to portland with me and we met up with Ben and Becky at the finish line as Ari finished.  He trained hard for the event and although he sounded ready to give up at one point, he stuck it out and I was so proud of him when he crossed the finish line :).  Somewhere in the last month or two, season 2 of Battlestar Galactica started.  A few of us have been hosting showings – it’s just as good this season as last season so far.

It deserves it’s own post, so I won’t go into it too much yet, but Ari and I then took a 1 week coastal trip.  Long Beach, WA to Astoria, OR, along the coast a bit then on to Portland and finally along the Columbia River before coming back home.  A couple days of laying at the beach, gorgeous scenary throughout the trip…it was just wonderful!

And of course…the baby is growing.  At this point it’s growing roughly a 1/2 pound per week.  I’m showing more and more.  Just went through the testing for gestational diabetes.  Failed the first test but was happy to get the phone call from the doctor this morning after hearing I passed and don’t have it.  I’ll also add a post within the next couple days with a full update of baby stuff.  I’ll get the book and do a full growth comparison list – though they’ve pretty much stopped comparing the baby to random objects.
