Baby Update…

Time for an update, since it’s been a few weeks…

The weekly comparison:
Week 15: No interesting comparison, ~4 – 4.5 inches, ~1 3/4 of an ounce.
Week 16: Crown to rump–roughly the size of a small gerbil.
Week 17: About as wide as your palm, and weights about as much as a bar of soap.
Week 18: Top to tail–about the size of a lobster tail.

Things are definately progressing.  Since I’m no longer fitting into my pants and was in need of a dress for my friends’ upcoming wedding, I finally went for a little maternity shopping last weekend.  Now I just need to find a pair of shoes that goes with this new dress.

Had my 16 week obstetric appointment. Ari and I were able to hear the heartbeat!  136bpm – should be between 120 – 160, so all is good.  I talked to my doctor about the migraines I’ve been getting – haven’t really had morning sickness, but my migraines always make me feel nauseaus. Doctor’s orders? Eat ice cream before going to bed (I really need to get that written down).  Apparently ice cream has the protien, calories and fat to help me get through the night.  And/or I should wake up around 3am and have a snack.  Tegan has been doing a good job of being my alarm clock and waking me up by scratching the bed.

Just a couple more weeks before the 20-week ultrasound.  That’s the first opportunity we have to find out the gender.  I really don’t know what I’m going to answer when they ask me.

I also managed to get together with Deb this past week and picked up some baby books that she has been given.  I’ve started with the humorous book – The Girlfriend’s Guide to Pregnancy.  I’m actually enjoying the style in which this book is written – relaxed and humorous.  I’ve read some of the Amazon reviews, so I’ll have to read more before I can actually say whether or not I would recommend it.

  1. Hi, you don’t know me and I don’t know you… but we have the same last name… okay that was a lame start, let me try again.

Hello, my name is Ian Pernick… I did some random searching and here I am! okay lame again… one more time.

Hey, how’s it going? My name is Ian Pernick. I did a little reading of your blog and first of all congratulations on the little one to come. Secondly, I see that you’ve married into the family of Pernick’s. I know there aren’t a lot of us, I’m probably your 19th cousin by marriage 24 times removed but it’s still worth a shot!

I’ve recently taken on the project of doing a family tree. My grandparent’s Pernick aren’t very forthcoming with information and I haven’t talked to them in quite a while, so… bringing myself to my point, do you or Ari know of anyone who has a Pernick family tree? I was able to trace my mother’s family to the 1600’s but I need somewhere to start with the Pernick’s. My grandfather is Bernard Allen Pernick, I am the son of David Lawrence Pernick sadly enough that’s as far back as I can go.

I know that my grandparents lived in Southern California for a long time and that is where my aunt and uncle live. I was actually born in Everett, Washington but lived in Northern California most of my life before going to Culinary School in New York. I now reside in Kansas City, MO, where my grandparents just left to move to Las Vegas… but I’m getting ahead of myself again. My brother, his wife and two children recently moved to Shenendoah, IA and my parents to Rock Port, MO. I’m 20 years old. I’ve been working on the family tree for a long time now and all I’ve heard about the Pernick side is that we’re Polish. I’ve never had a chance to learn about our culture or who our family was. My grandparents don’t really speak to my father and our family because my father decided to raise his kids Christian. I still remember celebrating Channukah with my grandparents and wondering where the tree was. I really hope you have some information that could help me out, just a piece of the puzzle.

Sorry this ended up being so long, just decided that I had a lot to say, I guess!
Thanks for listening/reading, I hope to hear from you soon. You can email me at latingringo17@hotmail.com

Good luck with the baby and I hope this finds you in the best of health and happiness.
